Is Whistler in Canada a good destination for families?

Absolutely! I would say it is one of the best family ski resorts - and we’ve been to a lot of different ski towns. It is definitely one of the best ski resorts for kids - there are so many things you can do with the family if you don’t even ski! There’s ice skating, tubing, horse sledding, Peak2Peak gondola (which is the highest and longest gondola in the world! The views are just spectacular), Winter zip lining, snowmobiling and snowshoeing to name a few. It’s truly a winter wonderland. We have spent the last two years here during the holidays and it is one of the best memories we have created with our family.

What is your favourite thing to do in Whistler?

That is such a tough question since there are so many! Since I can’t just pick one, some of our absolute favourite things to do were roasting marshmallows by the outdoor camper and fire pit, tubing and ice skating. Kaia loves being a snow bunny!

Where did you stay - tell us about the resort?
We stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Whistler, which is our favourite place to stay (it’s a two hour drive from Vancouver International Airport). We stayed here last year as well and really love that they are family friendly and luxurious too, so even as a parent, you can feel pampered. It’s near the village and the hotel offers complimentary shuttles to and from there, and a private car if you need to go anywhere else other than the village - a great perk! It’s a Euro-style property with a rustic mountain feel with it’s peaked roofs, wooden beams and offers a fireplace in each room. They have a heated outdoor pool and spa to relax after a day on the slopes. The restaurant Sidecut is a great family restaurant and kids under five can eat for free if you’re a guest of the hotel and they have fabulous cocktails for adults! The hotel offers a kids center where kids can play games, crafts, art and meet other young kids. There is an attendant that works and oversees this too if you want to leave older kids to play. Our ultimate favourite part of the hotel is the camper outside with the fire pit for our s’mores. If you want an adult date night with your spouse, the hotel has on-site babysitters for you. If you’re wanting the best ski resort for kids that’s luxurious and posh, look no further!

What clothing essentials do you pack Kaia for the slopes?

Kids ski wear and keeping warm on the slopes doesn’t need to be dull. When it comes to kids ski clothes, a warm pair of snow boots is a must, along with thermal long johns for underneath ski trousers and a specific kids ski jacket that’s made for colder climates and water repellent. A cosy knit hat, scarf, waterproof mittens and sunglasses. Everything basically waterproof, because kids love playing in the snow! Most importantly, don’t forget the sunscreen and lip balm too!

What clothing do you pack for Kaia to wear off the slopes?

Think après ski chic when it comes to off-piste kids ski clothes! Whistler is one of the chicest ski towns, so looking chic on and off the slopes is key… even for a tot! Anything faux fur-especially her beige GENET down-padded ski jacket by Moncler and her Catya black wool hat with fur pom pom for both on and off the slopes. The perfect outfit for off the piste would be some black skinny jeans like these ones from Burberry, with a chic knit like this classic ivory wool sweater by Gucci or this Fendi pink cashmere jumper worn with a hat, gloves and some playful shoes like these pumps by Gucci, or fun Fendi shoes.
