- Meet the Coggill Family -

Sylvia is one of our product copywriters helping to write the descriptions for the beautiful products on the website, and she has worked at Childrensalon for two and a half years. Hailing from Surabaya, Indonesia, Slyvia now lives in Tunbridge Wells with her husband and her 8-year-old son, Charlie. Charlie loves to play sport, mainly cricket, but he also has a creative eye which he channels into Lego and Minecraft.

After a long stint at home, how has Charlie enjoyed being back at school over the past month? What is his favourite subject and why?

Charlie absolutely loved being back at school and together with his friends again. His favourite subject at the moment is History as he loves finding out what happened and how things were in the olden days. He also enjoys outdoor activities, his favourites being hockey and cricket. Even though it has changed quite a bit with all the new safety precautions, Charlie is always optimistic and has a spring in his step when he goes to school each day.

Have you any family traditions that you either have or will have to adapt in order to stay safe at home, within the guidelines?

Having spent a good few months at home, when the regulations allowed we decided to have a small, socially-distanced birthday party for Charlie. We had a lovely picnic in the park with a few friends from his school ‘bubble’. Unfortunately, it wasn’t how we usually do birthday parties - no ‘sharing is caring’ - but nonetheless the sun was shining, it was a lovely warm day, and he had his best buddies around him.

What to wear

With the weather cooling, there is less opportunity for outdoor activities. What are some of Charlie’s favourite indoor games and activities?

Lego is Charlie’s go-to pastime when the weather means he has to stay indoors. He loves his collection of Lego people and placing them in different buildings and settings. Charlie also enjoys playing Minecraft and has used it to build a fortress and even his own version of the Titanic! Once he has used up his daily screen time, sometimes Charlie will make his favourite sushi.

Do you plan on celebrating Halloween at the end of this month? If so, how will you celebrate?

We don’t know what tomorrow may bring, but if trick-or-treating is allowed, we will certainly be joining in. The last few years, Charlie and his friends have taken turns to host a Halloween party with dinner and trick-or-treating. Perhaps this year the children can have a virtual Halloween party. Whatever happens, I’m sure they will still have a lot of fun with their spooky Halloween costumes!
