Easy On, Easy Off
Shoes that are simple to pop on and off make getting ready for school in the morning a breeze.
Velcro, Slip-On and More
“Look for shoes with an easy fastening system like Velcro tabs," advises Childrensalon’s Oana Cioaza from our customer service team. "And think about how practical they are for younger children to use on their own.” Velcro fastenings are also handy if your child's feet are either wider than average or on the narrow side, as they can be adjusted without affecting the line or fit of the shoe.
What about a pair of slip-on shoes from Geox or Tommy Hilfiger? With easy wearability, your child won't need to rely on you to tighten the straps or tie their laces before they leave for school — a great way to promote independence. Designed to be comfortable, many of our styles are made from soft, flexible material with extra features including: elasticated panels, antibacterial leather insoles and extra resilient heels.
The Classics
Try a traditional T-bar design or go for a more modern patent finish to start the new term in style.
Brogues, T-Bars and More
Classic shoes, made using traditional techniques, can be passed down through generations and will never go out of style. Little wonder the Royal Family are big fans of sweet T-bar shoes and Mary Janes, which always look wonderful with crisp white socks and school tights.
Many of our classic styles are made in soft black leather with different toe shapes — those with a typically wider toe box ensure your child's foot has enough room to move comfortably within the shoe. Perforated patterns and smart brogue detailing add a decorative touch, while laces and T-bar fastenings keep the shoe secure and add further support.
School Trainers
In or out of the classroom, keep them moving with a pair of comfortable school trainers they'll love.
Smart, Sporty and More
Gosia Bochenska, our customer service team leader, advises: “Before you start shopping for trainers, check your child's school rules surrounding logos and colours, and a good tip is to avoid permeable mesh fabrics if they will be exercising in wet weather, as rain can get through." To protect indoor floors, some schools also prefer trainers with white or light-coloured soles that are less likely to leave marks behind.
On or off the pitch, look out for styles with cushioned insoles and adjustable velcro fastenings to keep feet comfy (even better when it's time to change in a hurry). For those who are always on the move, we'd advise looking for a durable, high-grip sole with a well-designed tread pattern so they don't slip.
