Comfy School Shoes for Kids

“Look for shoes with an easy fastening system like Velcro tabs," advises Childrensalon’s Oana Cioaza from our customer service team. "And think about how practical they are for younger children to use on their own.” Velcro fastenings are also handy if your child's feet are either wider than average or on the narrow side, as they can be adjusted without affecting the line or fit of the shoe.

What about a pair of slip-on shoes from Geox or Tommy Hilfiger? With easy wearability, your child won't need to rely on you to tighten the straps or tie their laces before they leave for school — a great way to promote independence. Classic shoes, made using traditional techniques, can be passed down through generations and will never go out of style. Little wonder the Royal Family are big fans of sweet T-bar shoes and Mary Janes, which always look wonderful with crisp white socks and school tights.

Gosia Bochenska, our customer service team leader, advises: “Before you start shopping for trainers, check your child's school rules surrounding logos and colours, and a good tip is to avoid permeable mesh fabrics if they will be exercising in wet weather, as rain can get through."
