A Childrensalon Christmas with @allthingsvictoria

“If I could describe the festive season in our home in three words, they would be: joyful, warm and magical!” In Victoria’s world, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a little extra sparkle. And as a long-time customer of Childrensalon, we thought what better way to round off the year than by joining her and her children for a very stylish celebration.

With mugs of cocoa in hand and the twinkling lights of her spectacular tree in the background, Victoria takes a moment to share with us her family traditions, styling tips for the festive season, and how they're celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.

Hello, lovely Childrensalon readers!

My name is Victoria, and I'm Mum to three wonderful and very active children, Esmae, Rose and Tristan. I’m also a content creator and children’s stylist behind @allthingsvictoria — I’d love it if you came and said hi!

My journey with Childrensalon has been in the making for just about a decade! My eldest daughter, Esmae, turns ten next year, and some of her very first outfits were from Childrensalon. Ever since I discovered the store, I’ve fallen in love with the collections, season after season! So, it is an honour to be back, sharing our Christmas outfits, traditions and tales. A full circle moment, to say the least. It feels like we were chatting about our Palm Beach holiday only yesterday, and now we are decorating for the holidays! So, welcome to our home, and may all your Christmases be merry and bright!

Comfort and Joy

Curled up beside the Christmas tree, Esme, Tristan and Rose are ready for Santa Claus, dressed in their best festive pyjamas.

So, let’s get straight into it! Talk us through a typical Christmas Day in your house . . .

Christmas Day starts with the sound of Esmae, Rose and Tristan running down the stairs in their Christmas pyjamas – it’s like a scene out of Home Alone! They’re full of excitement and ready to open their gifts from my husband and me (or Santa, should I say), and we spend the rest of the day taking it easy, relaxing and letting the kids enjoy their new toys and gifts all day long. In the evening, we love to cuddle up on the sofa and watch, you guessed it, Home Alone 1 or 2, whichever one takes the kids’ fancy.

That sounds perfect! And what’s on their Christmas wish list this year?

With three kids, the lists really don’t end. Throughout the year, if they see something they’d like, we always say, “add it to the Christmas wish list!” It helps us to see if they really want it or if it’s just in the moment. My girls are really into LEGO, which is so fun for all the family, and crafts, so they’ll love this Super Smalls jewellery set. My eldest daughter, Esmae, is nine and in this really fun phase of discovering her own sense of style. She loves to put looks together and is obsessed with Golden Goose trainers. My son, on the other hand, is going through a construction phase, so anything in that department is probably already on his list. I’ll be looking at this gift guide for inspiration this year, I'm sure!

Merry and Bright

The girls' shimmering Junona looks and Tristan's charming Romano suit are perfect for those all-important photos in front of the tree.

Do the kids get excited about their Christmas Day looks? What do they think about their Childrensalon outfits?

Esmae, Rose and Tristan all have very different personalities, so while one of my daughters will be up and getting ready for the day as soon as presents are opened, my other daughter loves her comfy pyjamas look and will want to wear them all day long! The girls are really into tartan lately, so their new Fendi outfits from Childrensalon are something they are really excited to style! And, you can never have too much sparkle, so the Junona pieces are sure to have them feeling as festive as can be. Tristan usually likes to be comfy and casual, but he’ll certainly make an exception for this smart Romano suit, especially as it's Christmas!

Seeing your little ones in their matching outfits is so adorable. Any top tips for families wanting to recreate this style?

One of my favourite styling tips is to coordinate the kids’ looks, especially when you have siblings to dress for an occasion, like Christmas or even a summer holiday. I don’t think I’ve ever not coordinated my kids’ outfits to be honest, it’s become second nature. I love to pair colours and prints that go well together so that, even if everyone isn’t necessarily fully matching, they coordinate effortlessly. I love how easy it can be when you already have a long list of things to do as a parent — the outfits look so put-together without it looking like you’ve tried.

Matching Moments

Esmae and Rose put their own spin on this classic tartan pattern, perfect for cute and coordinating moments at Christmas.

How do you get your home feeling festive, and do the children have any favourite parts of the build-up?

This is the best question because I love to hear about other traditions! We usually start with getting a fresh set of pyjamas (Christmas ones, of course!), then we get out the tree and begin to decorate. My children love to decorate their own trees in their rooms too.

In our household, Christmas Eve is just as important to us as Christmas Day itself. Every year we host a big Christmas Eve party and, let me just say, we go all out. We unwrap all of our family's gifts and compete in a gingerbread-house decorating competition with my siblings. The children help, of course, and it’s the best time! We truly celebrate the holiday. Our home is decorated, freshly baked goods are cooling off and filling the home with the most amazing aroma, and my kids are eagerly waiting to open their gifts later that evening. When it comes to planning things out and getting the house decorated, I like to give myself plenty of time, so I start in early November. My children enjoy it more, and I don’t feel the pressure to rush through it. Each year, I try to start a little earlier than the last, to truly take it all in.

Do you have a favourite memory from Christmas growing up that you’re now recreating with your own children?

Growing up, we always had a very colourful, nostalgic tree. When I think of this amazing ’90s tree we had, I want to recreate it each year! This year we are decorating the tree similarly to how my parents did it back then, and I can’t wait to share it with my children.
