#SafeAtHome | Home Cinema

With the summer months upon us and varying limitations on where we are able to go for entertainment, we’re always looking for ways to bring fun activities into our lives at home, both indoors and out!

After all the fun she’s been having encouraging creative play with her two daughters Anouk and Lula, we spoke to Chloé Fleury about setting up an outdoor cinema for an evening. Depending on the space you have available, and as long as you have access to a projector, this could also be done indoors.

What materials did you need to make the outdoor cinema?

We have a projector that we brought outside into the backyard. I borrowed the projector screen from a friend, but a piece of white fabric works great too!

To make a cosy seating area we brought out a few chairs, lots of pillows, and blankets because it can be chilly at night. And of course, it isn't a movie night without popcorn and candies!

Could you talk us through the process of setting it all up?

I had my husband put up the screen and set up the projector. The girls and I brought all our pillows and blankets outside with their favourite stuffed animals, and I prepared a tray with their favourite snacks. We also hung garland lights to make it more special and magical.

What were Anouk and Lula's favourite parts of the night?

I think eating all the popcorn and candies! Of course they also enjoyed the movies very much, and were very cozy in their little outfits.

You’re always working on creative projects with the girls, are there any other lockdown activities that you've got planned to keep the family entertained?

We are currently building a big cardboard castle complete with a horse - forever a favourite theme for my little princesses. We’re always drawing, too. We are big fans of the French illustrator Soledad Bravi, so my eldest has been doing live classes of hers on Instagram. We’ve also been tie-dying, which we plan to do more of!
