Your child’s skin is far more delicate than ours, so they’ll be even more sensitive to the texture of fabrics. By choosing materials that are natural, breathable and soft, especially as the temperature rises, you’ll ensure that your child stays comfortable from the moment they get dressed right through to bedtime. Linen and cotton are lightweight and great for spring layering. Thanks to its loose weave, linen is highly breathable, and both linen and cotton are naturally good at wicking moisture away from the skin, which helps to keep them cool. Plus, if you look out for the GOTS seal of approval, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that their outfit has been made from organic fibres, is free from toxic chemicals and has been produced in a manner that treats people and nature with the utmost respect. We love Babidu for their use of wonderfully natural materials, and Molo for their gorgeous prints and eco credentials to match.
Soft Shapes for Spring
When it comes to your little one’s comfort, there’s nothing worse than a tight-fitting top with fussy fastenings or bottoms without any stretch. For younger boys, try swapping out slim-fit shirts for boxier designs that not only offer more room for movement but look just as good with the top button undone as they do buttoned up, should the occasion call for it, like Alviero Martini and Artesanía Granlei’s styles. Whilst girls will love simple, relaxed shapes like these shift and trapeze-cut dresses from AIGNER and Petit Bateau. And let’s not forget how effortless ready-made outfit sets are. Lots of your favourite designers have done the hard work for you by creating coordinated sets in the sweetest springtime prints. You can even mix and match them with other items they’ve already got in their wardrobe.
Smart Casual Style
With lots of events to look forward to this spring, chances are you’ll be searching for pieces that tick both the smart and casual boxes. In addition, if you’re busy preparing for Ramadan and are looking for outfits that will take them effortlessly through to Eid, these looks are ideal. Pretty Originals shows us that dresses don’t always have to be decadent, and this season we’re seeing the details shine through in prints and subtle flourishes, such as bows and frilly sleeves. Patachou’s nautical dress is also classic in design making it perfect for a relaxed occasion. For boys, choosing full-length trousers will instantly elevate his outfit, but if you want to dress it down slightly, then a simple roll of the shirt sleeves will do the trick.
