February 2022 | This month we're inspired by ....

One thing we're really trying not to talk about this month is Bruno! We Don't Talk About Bruno is the number one bestselling song that's been at the top of the charts in the UK and the Billboard Hot 100 in the US for most of February and is the breakout hit from Disney's latest box office hit - Encanto. Winner of the Best Animated Feature Film at 2022's Golden Globe Awards last month, the enchanting tale, released in 2021, is set in the mountains of Columbia and is centred around the magical Madrigal family.
Box office hits and award-winning songs aside however, what we're most inspired by is the clothing! As in all Disney films, Encanto is a ficitonal village, however they beautifully paint the picture of rural South America with its lush flora and charming teracotta dwellings – as for the outfits, think folk-like frills, colourful fabrics featuring patterns and florals, cool cotton and long, flowing skirts. Channel the character of Isabella with her passion for purple in this stunning Girls Wisteria Cropped Blouse with full sleeves and pretty floral print from Dolce & Gabbana. The trend for designer collabs doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon and the latest Simpsons X Balenciaga capsule could well be our favourite yet. Famous for their guest star appearances, the team behind everyone's favourite animated family have joined forces with fashion powerhouse Balenciaga to create a four-piece capsule for kids featuring two T-shirts - Black The Simpsons T-shirt and White The Simpsons T-shirt - a sweatshirt - White The Simpsons Sweatshirt - and a hoodie - Black The Simpson Hoodie. The mini-me collection takes inspiration from the designer's main collection for SS22 and, to celebrate the release, Balanciaga hosted a red carpet show at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in autumn 2021, where they screened a Balenciaga-themed episode of the Simpsons featuring animated versions of Creative Director, Gvasalia and other employees, alongside well known celebrities who regularly frequent the front row and the Simpsons characters themselves, all dressed in new season Balenciaga. Each piece in the kids' collection features a print of the famous family including pets Santa's Little Helper, the dog and Snowball II the cat! We can't work out who looks more fabulous - Marge dripping in jewels and a fur coat or Homer in the designers iconic black studded ensemble.
