#SafeAtHome | Host a Teddy Bears' Tea Party

"If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise If you go down in the woods today, you'd better go in disguise ...
For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain because - today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic  ...."

- Jimmy Kennedy, Irish songwriter - 1932

Inspired by the song Jimmy Kennedy wrote in 1932, Teddy Bears' picnics - otherwise know as tea parties - have become a much loved play time activity for children around the world.

We took the lead from family blogger @galinathomas and daughter Katerina who hosted a teddy bears' tea party at home as part of our #SafeAtHome campaign. With the warmer weather upon us, it's a great time to host your tea party outside in the garden.

- Hosting your Teddy Bears' Tea Party -

To make it fun, you need at least six teddy bears, so if you are playing with your siblings, ask them to bring their own.
You will need a toy tea set - if you don't have one of these at home, some old crockery will do - remember to ask your parents before you take their best china outside into the garden!
When considering treats, bears love honey, so we suggest honey sandwiches for a light snack. If you're hosting this for lunch, traditional egg and cress and cucumber sandwiches are the perfect pick. If you opt for afternoon tea then scones, jam and clotted cream are the ideal accompaniment.
A picnic rug is a must whether you choose to have it inside or outside.
It's important to note that like any other tea party, this is a very important affair, so you will be required to dress as you would for a party and your teddies should be dressed in similar attire - a little bow tie for the boys and a clip or hair bow for the girls will do.

- Just for fun -

- Why not make invitations for your teddies to invite them to your tea party? Learn the names of your siblings' teddy bears and send them all an individual invite. There are a number of printable invites on Pinterest like these ones here

- Instead of real food, draw some cakes on paper and cut them out or create some 3D ones, like these ones here on Pinterest
