Dolce & Gabbana | Mini-Me

The mini-me trend also known as ‘twinning’ and ‘mummy and me’ dressing has been around for some time, however like all popular trends, it has evolved. Childrenswear has become more trend orientated in recent years and many luxury designers have taken the opportunity to develop their own childrenswear lines, recreating pieces from their main collections for babies and children. This year in particular has seen the rise in celebrities choosing to dress their little ones in matching outfits.

One of the original designers to champion this look is Dolce & Gabbana. Back in 2014, Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy were seen attending an art installation in Brooklyn, wearing matching blossom print dresses from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring / summer 2014 line. Similarly on Mother’s day in 2017, a famous snap of the star with her daughter wearing matching Ortensia print dresses from the fall / winter '17/'18 collection - at the museum of Ice cream, in Los Angeles, California - sent the internet into a frenzy.

Family has always been at the heart of Dolce & Gabbana's philosophy - from their Sicilian heritage that is apparent in their designs, to their campaigns that showcase a diverse range of ages, to their now famous hashtag DGFamily. The designer's mini me collection reinforces the importance of family with wearable designs that can be worn from babies to grandmas alike.
