Choose your style
Whether opting for a traditional wedding or something more unique and bespoke to your taste, one of the biggest initial decisions is deciding on the colour palette. Colour themes transcend to all aspects of the big day including the flowers, cake, table settings and importantly, the bridesmaid’s dresses, so it’s key to get it right.

Living Coral
Just like wedding and bridesmaids dress styles, colour trends come and go. Every year, the Pantone Color Institute™ deliver insight colour trends and consequently determine what they think is the ‘Colour of the year’. In addition to fashion colour trends, forecasters also look at trends in all areas of lifestyle including interior design, technology and more to determine the ultimate shade.
In a report detailing their predictions for 2019, specific to fashion, the Pantone Color Institute™ reference colours that ‘give confidence and lift our spirits’ as key in determining this year’s colour trends, naming additional shades - such as ‘Pink Peacock’ a bright fuchsia pink that pops beautifully against white wedding dresses, ‘Lemon Verbena’ a zesty sunshine yellow, perfect for summer weddings and ‘Pressed Rose’ a dusty pink, suited to a more understated theme.

Accessorise
For relaxed country weddings, green is the perfect embodiment of nature, as a backdrop against flowers and foliage. Green flower girl dresses beautifully complement white wedding dresses to create a fresh, clean colour palette, especially alluring for spring weddings. Yellow sits next to green on the colour wheel and yellow bridesmaids dresses are a lively choice for summer weddings, bringing happy feelings of flowers and sunshine. Team both colours with delicate flower crowns, either fresh or from a selection of luxury hand-made ones from designers such as Sienna likes to party.

Romantic Classics
For more traditional weddings, pink flower girl dresses and pink bridesmaids dresses are a classic choice due to their romantic and ultra-feminine look. Pastel and dusty shades of pink are particularly delicate and introduced as the primary colour throughout, create an element of gracefulness. As a muted version of coral, peach is very pretty and together with orange is a great alternative to classic pink.

Midnight hues
Just as black goes with white, blue and pink are considered in succession – pastel, dusty and grey shades of blue bridesmaids dresses add an element of sophistication to white and ivory. A deep shade of midnight blue named ‘Eclipse’ was identified as a key neutral for 2019 by the Pantone Color Institute™ and looks stunning against paler shades either by accessorising or choosing different shades of blue dresses for each bridesmaid. Choose metallic or ivory shoes for added elegance.
