In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2021, this month’s Childrensalon Book Corner takes a closer look at Usborne’s Tales of Brave and Brilliant Girls from Around the World. Honouring the wonder of female spirit, these tales celebrate diversity and serve to both educate and inspire the minds of young readers.
The stories provide a perfect opportunity to open up the conversation around feminism and we reached out to book lover and mother-of-two @thehelsproject to discover what she loves about the collection.
We love Tales of Brave and Brilliant Girls from Around the World. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed reading the stories with Dougie - he was quick to engage and was keen to ask questions and learn about each bold heroine as we read.
I've been determined to diversify our bookshelves to encourage my children to read about people of all races, cultures, countries and periods of history. Tales of Brave and Brilliant Girls from Around the World is the perfect addition to our shelves.
