We are a creative and innovative online fashion retail company that is growing quickly. We’re looking for a talented user interface (UI) Designer to join our team. You will either have a degree or equivalent qualification in Design and 2-3 year’s commercial experience working for an agency or in-house with a portfolio to support this demonstrating your passion for design and showing off your design skills.
You will be an experienced and talented UI Designer drawing and shaping our unique, user-centric products and experiences. Working in agile teams, with developers, UX designers and copywriters, you will be making design decisions translating any given user-experience journey into smooth and intuitive interaction.
With your creative skills and strong understanding of our values, you will design user interfaces that are effective, on brand and consistent. Your technical skills will enable you to understand code and back-end systems to design layouts that are responsive and maximised for mobile and tablet platforms, whilst adhering to industry best practice at all times.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing UI design.
Working closely with CX, UX and development teams, ensuring you deliver brand consistency across childrensalon.com, childrensalonoutlet.com and iOS & Android apps,
you will have a keen eye for typography and contemporary design.
This role will be hybrid with some remote working and some days based at our Head Office in Tunbridge Wells.
Responsibilities
- Be a great team player, experienced in working with agile teams. Ability to collaborate closely with developers, copywriters and UX designers.
- Bring wireframes to life with prototypes and final designswith a strong focus on Interaction and Material Design, oupled with adhering to style guides. You will effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods.
- Present and justify your design decisions. Theseshould be based on the overall design roadmap as well as your own design ideas and fundamental principles (i.e. colour theory, visual weight, etc.)
- Continually keep yourself and your design team updated with the latest industry’s standards guidelines.
Key Skills
- Experience and proven track record on UI.
- Be able to work autonomously while dealing with a heavy workload, multi-tasking, taking ownership and accountability and delivering ahead of expectations
- Hands-on experience creating prototypes, animations, material design and responsive UI
- Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision
- Understanding of basic front-end languages (HTML5, CSS3 Javascript) and video.
- Creative ideas with a problemsolving mindset and ability to inspire creativity
- Enhance designs with animation, to bring slick interactions to the screen along all user journeys
- Be open to receiving objective feedback and acting upon it.
