He's worked with some of the most iconic childrenswear brands in the world and travels across the globe to shoot in the most beautiful locations - Olivier Ribardiére lives a life that most people can only dream of. Best loved for his enthusiasm, spontaneity and playful approach, we couldn't wait to sit down with the famous fashion photographer to find out more.
Hi Olivier! You've photographed some of the world’s best brands! Which has been your favourite and why?
One of my favourites would be Sonia Rykiel. Why? I collaborated with them for over 10 years and they had complete confidence in me, so I had the chance to be both a photographer and the Artistic Director.
How did you become a children’s fashion photographer?
I started photography school and then quickly became an assistant at the famous Pin-Up Studios in Paris. It was here that I had the chance to assist some of the most famous photographers such as Peter Lindbergh, Oliviero Toscani and Jean Paul Goude, so it was easy for me to focus on fashion.
Do you have any personal highlights from your career that you could share with us?
It may be that I've travelled from one end of the world to the other, from New Zealand and Australia to Chile - it's moments like these I can say how lucky I am to do this job!
You have a reputation for shooting very quickly – what’s the reason behind that approach?
The best images are often the first, so I try to be as spontaneous as possible with the kids. I have an idea of what I want the picture to be - when shooting with children it's always best to be quick!Discover a few of Olivier's iconic shots from some of our favourite brands below and view the rest of his work on his website.
